Religulous

So we went and saw Religulous last night and thought it was as hilarious as it was frightening.  Though it will probably offend a good number of religious people, they can still learns something from it.  To the non-believer, scriptural literalism and dogmatic fundamentalism sound laughable, dangerous, or both.  When someone asks to be taken seriously, and then claims that the earth is 5000 years old or that the universe revolves around our tiny little lives, it makes it hard for the rest of us to keep a straight face.  If your a religious moderate, fine.  I can understand belief in God, even if I don’t agree.  I can understand the person who sees scripture metaphorically.  But Immaculate conceptions, talking animals, rib women, original sin, heaven and hell, giants, angels, creationism…it sounds insane.
